Tottenham coach reveals secrets from private meeting with Alex Ferguson
Mauricio Pochettino had dinner with the Man Utd legend before signing a contract extension, staying at White Hart Lane for another 5 years.
Pochettino and Tottenham's President have just signed a new contract, valid until 2021. Just two days before, the 44-year-old Argentine coach had a private meeting with Alex Ferguson, at Scott's restaurant in London.
Tottenham were informed of this in advance. Pochettino also stressed that he met the former Scottish strategist with no motive related to the rumor of replacing Van Gaal.
“For me, having dinner with Alex Ferguson was amazing. It was a dream come true for me, because when I was young and just starting my coaching career, he was my inspiration. Ferguson was one of the examples I followed,” Pochettino shared in a press conference before the final match of the season.

“When you have two hours with people like that, it’s great. For me, he is one of the greatest coaches in the history of football,” added the Argentine.
“I could only enjoy that wonderful moment, having dinner with him. I wanted to stop time, but it was impossible. Sir Alex Ferguson is someone we can all learn something from, because he has a great history in both football and in everyday life,” Pochettino continued.
The young Argentine coach is highly regarded for helping Tottenham play well this season. If the club wins at the home of relegated Newcastle in the final round, they will certainly retain their second place in the Premier League, and for the first time in 21 years stand above their North London rivals Arsenal.
“Second place in the Premier League is very important for Tottenham. It will help us go straight to the group stage of the Champions League next season. That was the target from the beginning of the season. We need to feel happy and proud. Finishing the season in second place is a great achievement for the club.”
