(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 19, the Vietnam U18 team ended its short training session with a friendly match against Phu Dong Club. The match was an opportunity for coach Philippe Troussier to evaluate the team's training results in recent days.

After 4 days of high intensity training since gathering at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the match with Phu Dong Club was held.Coach Philippe TroussierIt is expected to help the players more clearly reveal their inherent qualities as well as their ability to absorb the knowledge just imparted by the coaching staff.

Taking advantage of the opportunity to face a team from the national first division, coach Philippe Troussier divided the U18 Vietnam team into 2 groups of players for 2 halves. In which, the starting lineup was given priority by him with many faces who had performed well in the past training days.

However, with the more experienced opponent, the U18 Vietnam team in the first half did not have many opportunities to dominate the game. The commendable thing was the defense, which played with concentration and good support, neutralizing many of the opponent's attacks.

After a goalless first half, the youth and determination to score points with the coaching staff helped the U18 Vietnam players play better and control the ball more in the second half. Unfortunately, they still lacked the necessary sharpness in decisive situations to be able to put the ball in the opponent's net. 0-0 was the final score of the match.

After the match, CoachPhilippe Troussiersaid: “Personally, I am satisfied with the performance of the whole team today, especially the very high training intensity of the team over the past week when we trained twice a day, every day of the week and had to take in a lot of new information. Against a First Division team, it was a very difficult challenge.

To cope, I organized the team to defend well. In this match, I am satisfied with the score, but it should also be noted that we created many scoring opportunities in the match. Of course, I am satisfied with the score and the attitude of the players."

In this training session, although the best players are not present, there are still players who make Mr. Troussier satisfied. The French strategist shared: "I can evaluate individuals, but as a head coach, my priority is to build a collective style of play. During the match, I observe whether the players coordinate well with each other or not, whether the information is good or not in a synchronized manner.

In the first half, I used a starting lineup that was considered to be of better quality, but of course, in response to reporters' questions about which player left the most impression on me in today's match, I rated Do Van Tri (number 16) of Viettel and Nguyen Van Duong of Nam Dinh team.

For me it is too early to make any assessment or comparison. As you know, many players in the squadSLNA, HAGL, Nutifood, PVF, Hanoi are preparing forNational U19 FinalsBut to evaluate and compare the whole, I see 4 to 5 individuals in this first training session to be in the best squad of this age group.

Even though I know that, I still want to call a lot of people to convey the message that you may not be competing yet, but I still call you here to get acquainted and strive for future goals, specifically the 2026 World Cup for example."

According to the plan, tomorrow morning (March 20), the whole team will have a recovery training session at the Vietnam Football Federation GYM, then will be returned to the club and end phase I of this training session. Phase II is expected to take place from April 5 to April 14.
