HN.T&T SUPERIORS COMPETITORS
Although they were considered equal in strength, HN.T&T's performance was superior to Selangor's in every aspect. With the return of Samson, along with Gonzalo and the midfield quartet Cuong-Duy-Hieu-Quyet, the capital team imposed an attacking game and created many scoring opportunities. In the 4th minute, receiving a pass from Van Quyet, Samson rushed down but shot wide when facing the opposing goalkeeper from a distance of 3m. 20 minutes later, it was Samson again who headed the ball hard but could not beat goalkeeper Faziral. In the following minutes, HN.T&T continued to attack tirelessly and Samson was the unluckiest player when he missed 5 good opportunities. The most unfortunate situation was in the 82nd minute, Hector broke through on the left wing and then lofted the ball into the penalty area, but the naturalized striker flew in and headed the ball into the post before kicking it over the bar in the second situation.
In the attacking game, HN.T&T scored the only goal in the 53rd minute. Samson broke through on the right wing and then stretched the ball across the goal, Van Quyet rushed in and scored, surprising the opposing defenders. In HN.T&T's victory, goalkeeper Van Cong also made a remarkable contribution. In particular, in the 72nd minute, midfielder Junior chipped the ball to the drop point, Afig headed it and goalkeeper Van Cong flew to save the ball spectacularly. Meanwhile, Selangor played completely defensively, even when they were behind and the attacking duo Paulo - Junior proved to be too isolated against HN.T&T's disciplined defense, so they had to accept defeat with a minimal difference.

"HN.T&T HAS AMBITION TO GO FAR IN AFC CUP 2014"
Not only did they win the top spot, opening the door to the next round, the capital team also set a record along with V.NB to become the Vietnamese club with the most successful start in the Asian Cup.
Along with V.NB, HN.T&T won all 3 matches in the AFC Cup 2014 with 9 absolute points and scored 9 goals. This is a historic achievement because before that, no Vietnamese team had done such a great thing in the continental arena, including B.BD - the team that reached the semi-finals of the AFC Cup 2009 but lost to Home Utd in the opening match. With an absolute victory after 3 matches and opening the door to the next round, coach Phan Thanh Hung's team is very excited in the journey to go far in this tournament.
"This year's AFC Cup, not only HN.T&T but also V.NB showed ambition to go far and we had a great start in this arena. It is true that in the history of Vietnamese football, no team has started with 3 consecutive wins and this brings excitement to the whole team. HN.T&T has actively prepared in all aspects to achieve the highest results. The victory of HN.T&T or V.NB not only brings a good image to the teams themselves but also enhances the prestige of Vietnamese football at the continental level", coach Phan Thanh Hung answered at the press conference.
