HN.T&T 5-0 Nay Pyi Taw FC: Proudly entering the quarterfinals

Yesterday afternoon, there were no surprises at Hang Day Stadium when Hanoi T&T easily defeated Nay Pyi Taw FC to secure a ticket to the quarter-finals of the AFC Cup 2014. Thus, among the 8 strongest teams in the AFC Cup 2014 this season, Vietnam contributed 2 clubs: Hanoi T&T and V.NB, the team that defeated Churchill Brothers in the match the other day.

HN.T&T had an easy victory over Nay Pyi Taw FC

HN.T&T was rated much higher than the away team, but coach Phan Thanh Hung still fielded the strongest lineup with the presence of the striker pair Samson, Gonzalo and experienced midfielders such as Thanh Luong, Sy Cuong, Ngoc Duy, Hector. The 2-goal difference created in the first half helped HN.T&T enter the second half with a very comfortable mentality. Meanwhile, Nay Pyi Taw, despite constantly making personnel adjustments, was still in a situation of being constantly pressured. As the match went towards the end, the chances of finishing came to HN.T&T more and more when the away team exposed many gaps due to physical decline. 3 more goals scored by HN.T&T against Nay Pyi Taw FC by Samson, Bao Khanh and Thanh Luong were the inevitable outcome of that match. The reigning V-League champion ended the match with a 5-0 victory, winning a ticket to the quarterfinals without much effort.

The fact that HN.T&T and V.NB both qualified for the quarter-finals of the AFC Cup this season is a memorable milestone for the V-League because this is the first time in history that two Vietnamese representatives have reached the quarter-finals of a continental tournament.

According to AFC's plan, on May 28, V.NB and HN.T&T will determine their opponents in the quarterfinals after the tournament's organizers conduct the draw and divide the matches.

HN.T&T was awarded 150 million VND by VFF

After defeating Nay Pyi Taw FC to reach the quarter-finals, HN.T&T was awarded 150 million VND by VFF. At AFC Cup 2014, this is the second time the capital team has received this bonus from VFF.
