This is the lotus pond of Mr. Nguyen Quoc Bac's family in Hoa Nam block, Hoa Binh town, planted for nearly 3 years now. The lotus trees are tall with large, beautiful lotus buds, large lotus shoots and leaves, spread over nearly 1 hectare. Mr. Bac said that at first, his family only planted 3 trees in the corner of the lake, but after only 3 years, they have spread throughout the lake. Currently, the flowers, calyxes, and leaves of the lotus tree are all used by his family to sell. Lotus flowers are sold on the first and last days of the lunar month. Each lotus calyx is sold for 5,000 VND/calyx. The family also sells lotus leaves to people for medical treatment.
Currently, people in Hoa Binh town as well as people in other localities in the western districts of Nghe An are having to endure the heat of over 40 degrees Celsius. This is a place for people in the town and neighboring areas to visit and cool off on hot days.
