(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 29, 2014, at Tien Phong commune, Que Phong district, the Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Military Telecommunications Group - Viettel Nghe An Branch and the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard to organize a ceremony to hand over breeding cows to people in the border district 30a in Nghe An.

The number of breeding cows handed over to Que Phong district this time includes 30 out of a total of 100 cows that Viettel Military Telecommunications Group sponsored and handed over to Nghe An. The area chosen for the ceremony is Tien Phong commune - where the livestock movement is quite developed. In recent years, the number of cattle in the commune has increased by 6-10% each year, bringing income and jobs to the people. Currently, the total cattle herd of the commune is 7,730, of which 5,500 are buffaloes and 2,230 are cows.

This time, 30 cows were handed over to farmers in 6 communes of Que Phong district including Tien Phong, Que Son, Hanh Dich, Dong Van, Thong Thu and Muong Noc (each commune has 5 cows/5 extremely poor households and policy families). At the ceremony, a representative of Viettel Nghe An Branch spoke about the content and meaning of the program, stating that Viettel sponsored 1,000 cows, each worth 15 million VND for poor households under the 30a program in Nghe An province within 2 years; people who only use Viettel postpaid subscriptions contribute 1 million VND to this Viettel fund to support the poor.

At the handover ceremony, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Hoang Viet Duong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke highly of the effectiveness and significance of the program "Joining hands for the community - Breeding cows to help the poor in the border areas" with funding from the development of Viettel's telecommunications services. This program helps the poor have initial capital to develop and escape poverty sustainably; at the same time, it creates conditions for people to quickly access telecommunications services and telecommunications technology.

Currently, poor districts of Nghe An, especially poor districts 30a such as Ky Son, Tuong Duong and Que Phong, have a great need for support to develop livestock farming. Therefore, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on departments, businesses, and generous sponsors to actively promote to mobilize more and more capital to help poor households; at the same time, he requested local authorities and the veterinary sector to continue to support and guide farmers on veterinary medicine and care so that the herd of cows after handover can develop well, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, encouraging people to stay on the land and villages to develop the economy and maintain border security...
