Support at least 70% of health insurance premiums for near-poor households

On June 26, 2012, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 797/QD-TTg on increasing the level of health insurance support for people in near-poor households. Particularly for localities that are not self-balanced and localities with the rate of regulating revenue allocation to the central budget of less than 50%, the central budget will support 70% and 35% of the face value of health insurance cards for people in near-poor households in those localities, respectively.

According to this decision, the State budget will support at least 70% of the health insurance premium for people in near-poor households according to the national poverty standard from January 1, 2012; at the same time, the Prime Minister also allows the Chairman of the People's Committee of the province or centrally-run city, based on the local budget capacity and other legal sources, to decide on the level of health insurance premium support for people in near-poor households higher than the above minimum support level of 70%.

This Decision takes effect from June 26, 2012.
