Support for building 6 safe houses for flood victims in Tuong Duong
(Baonghean.vn) - On May 16, the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross in coordination with Tuong Duong district organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the project to build 6 safe community houses for people in areas affected by storms and floods in Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district.
Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the Provincial Red Cross Society, the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, and representatives of departments, branches and localities.
The project "Safe House for the Community" has 3 main activities: Building safe houses, supporting livelihoods and training to improve knowledge and skills on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation for authorities and people in flood-affected areas.
6 safe houses for the community were supported to be built for the people of Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district, on this occasion, including support for roofing sheets, steel, cement and some interior furniture; with a total cost of 300 million VND.
On this occasion, the delegation also presented 11 pairs of breeding pigs to 11 households in especially difficult circumstances in Xop Mat village, Luong Minh commune (each pair of breeding pigs is worth 5 million VND).
