Drawing with Burnley, Chelsea took 4th place from Arsenal
In the latest match of round 35 of the Premier League, Chelsea drew 2-2 with Burnley despite playing at home at Stamford Bridge. However, this result was enough for The Blues to take 4th place from Arsenal with 1 point more.
Chelsea pushed up their formation in search of a goal right after the opening whistle. However, it was the Blues who received a cold shower in the 8th minute after a moment of brilliance from a Burnley player. From a corner kick on the right wing, the ball was cleared and found the right position of Jeff Hendrick. This midfielder suddenly kicked the ball beautifully, leaving goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga helpless.
The early goal forced Chelsea to go all out on the attack and by the 12th minute, the home team had found an equalizer. From Eden Hazard's excellent dribbling effort into the opponent's penalty area and then a pass back out, midfielder N'Golo Kante rushed from the second line to finish decisively to bring the match back to the starting line.
Just 2 minutes later, Chelsea took the lead for the first time with a hammer shot from Gonzalo Higuain in the penalty area. Before that, the former Napoli striker and defender Cesar Azpilicueta had a great exchange. It was thought that with the excitement rising, Chelsea would easily crush Burnley in the remaining time, but the surprise happened in the 24th minute.
From a well-planned free kick, striker Ashley Barnes, unmarked, easily tapped the ball into the net to equalize for Burnley. And 2-2 was also the score of the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, Chelsea continued to dominate the game. They continuously launched shots that threatened Burnley's goal, including Higuain's right-footed shot in the 51st minute that was blocked by goalkeeper Heaton, or Azpilicueta's efforts to score in the 67th minute and David Luiz in the 75th minute, but they could not beat the away team's goalkeeper.
Unable to find a goal in the second half, Chelsea regretfully accepted a 2-2 draw. However, the 1 point earned also helped Hazard and his teammates take 4th place from Arsenal.
