DOC has just recognized that all 33 Vietnamese exporting enterprises are not dumping shrimp in the US market.

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), after many years of unreasonable anti-dumping tax (AD) on Vietnamese shrimp, for the first time the US Department of Commerce had to admit that Vietnamese shrimp exporting enterprises did not dump.

The latest announcement from VASEP said: On September 10, 2013, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) issued a final decision on anti-dumping tax (AD) on frozen warm-water shrimp imported from Vietnam into the US from February 1, 2011 to January 31, 2012. In this decision, DOC recognized that all 33 Vietnamese shrimp exporting enterprises participating in the 7th administrative review (POR7) did not dump shrimp on the US market. Therefore, all 33 enterprises received a 0% tax rate.

33 Vietnamese shrimp exporting enterprises all receive 0% tax rate

In 2004, the United States officially imposed anti-dumping tax on Vietnamese shrimp at a rate of 4.57% for enterprises participating in the first administrative review (July 16, 2004 - January 31, 2006). From 2004 to present, after 7 rounds of review and persistent efforts of enterprises participating in the lawsuit, DOC finally had to admit the fact that Vietnamese shrimp exporting enterprises did not dump and for the first time DOC decided to impose a 0% tax rate for all Vietnamese shrimp exporting enterprises participating in the administrative review of anti-dumping tax.

Vietnam's shrimp exports with good supply in terms of both types and sizes and product diversity are accepted and favored by US consumers along with shrimp from other countries. Many Vietnamese enterprises are supplying shrimp products to supermarket chains in the US with good quality and reasonable prices.

In the first 7 months of 2013, Vietnam's shrimp exports to the US market remained stable at 337.6 million USD, accounting for 24% of the total shrimp export turnover of 1.4 billion USD. Meanwhile, shrimp exports to other markets are increasing significantly, with shrimp export value to the Japanese market increasing by 11% and the EU market increasing by 3% compared to the same period last year.

Along with the final decision POR7 of DOC, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) once again affirmed that Vietnamese shrimp exporting enterprises are and will operate in accordance with the laws of the market economy and will not receive any subsidies from the government. Therefore, of course, Vietnamese shrimp enterprises and shrimp products exported to the United States must be treated objectively, fairly, in accordance with the spirit of free and equal trade as well as the well-developed economic and trade relations between Vietnam and the United States./.
