The discovery was made near the Belaya River in Siberia, The Moscow Times reported. The fossils were divided into three different groups, including small bones, broken skulls, other bones and teeth. When put together, the entire skeleton covered about 1.5 square meters.
According to the hypothesis of researchers at Irkutsk University, this is a baby mammoth, which may have been hunted and eaten by humans. It became the target of hunters when it was left behind the herd. Based on the results of bone analysis, they determined that this elephant lived about 25,000 years ago.
The discovery of fossils could help experts reconstruct the evolutionary history of mammoths - an extinct ancient elephant species.
