(Baonghean.vn) - No husband, no children, no home, that is the pitiful situation of Ms. Cao Thi Tiu (born 1957) in Dien An, Dien Chau.

In early 1984, Mrs. Tiu got married and moved to Dien Trung commune. In April of that year, after returning from a trip to the sea, while mending her net, her husband suddenly had a high fever and died. Her husband died and she had no children. She asked her husband's family to let her return to her hometown in Hamlet 5, Dien An commune (Dien Chau) to live.

Her family had 4 siblings, the eldest brother had passed away, the second brother lived and worked in Thanh Hoa, felt sorry for his orphaned brother with no home so he came back to take her to live with him, but after only 10 days with his siblings and grandchildren, she missed her homeland so much that she asked her brother to come back.

At that time, there were also some people who wanted to ask her to marry them, but thinking about the painful scene of her husband before he died, she was afraid so she did not accept anyone's proposal and stayed alone. Without husband, children, house, or land, she had to stay at this house for a few months, at that house for a few years, and so on after staying at 7 families. Seeing that she had no place to stay, the village proposed and the commune agreed to let her build a hut next to the village's cultural house to stay.

Mrs. Tiu receives a monthly subsidy for poor single-parent households of 405,000 VND. Her intelligence is not very clear, so every holiday, Tet or any gift program, the commune government pays attention to her. Last month, during the gift-giving program for the poor, the abbot of Co Am Pagoda (in Dien Minh Commune - Dien Chau) came to give her a gift and suggested that she return to the pagoda to be raised and cared for, but Mrs. Tiu refused to go. Because she thinks this is where she was born and raised, where she will live and die...

It is called a house but in reality it is just like a tent, only a few square meters wide, enough to put a 1.2 meter bed and some necessary items, low. In the winter, if it does not rain, she can still sleep, if it rains, she will bring a chair to any corner that does not leak and sit there to doze off. In the summer, it is as hot as a coal stove, every night she goes to the neighbor's house to ask for a fan or sits in a bamboo bush to avoid the heat until late at night. She does not wish for a big house to be cool, she only wishes to repair the house so that in the rainy season she does not have to sleep sitting up.

Every year, she also cultivates a field of about 400 kg of rice, enough to eat all year round. When she is sick, needs money for medicine or is in need, she sells a little bit, eats frugally to raise a chicken. In her free time, she collects scrap metal to sell. The villagers all know her situation and feel sorry for her, so whenever they see her, they call in whoever has some scrap paper or beer cans to give them to her. She collects and sells them for a few thousand to save for food.

Ms. Hoang Thi Mai Phuong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Dien An commune said: Currently, Ms. Tiu's temporary hut has seriously degraded, leaking everywhere. Currently, the commune government is calling on businesses to support materials, assigning organizations to be responsible for mobilizing working days to repair it firmly.

However, Mrs. Tiu's life is currently very difficult. We hope that readers near and far will join hands and contribute so that Mrs. Tiu can have more funds to repair her house and have a place to shelter from the sun and rain.
