Hoang Nam - Hoang Thien enter Vietnam Open quarterfinals
Defeating the pair Daniel Taro - Akira Santillan 6-4, 5-3, the pair Nam - Thien on October 12 won the right to continue in the international tennis tournament taking place in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Vietnamese pair delighted fans with their well-coordinated performance to quickly finish off the highly rated duo and gain the right to enter the quarter-finals of the prestigious tournament held on home soil.
Hoang Nam - Hoang Thien did not have to play in the qualifying round thanks to a wild card to the main round. However, in return, the home team also faced a bit of a disadvantage because Hoang Nam had exhausted himself in the second round loss to Tatsuma Ito in the men's singles just a few hours earlier. However, when playing with teammate Hoang Thien, Hoang Nam coordinated smoothly, making his opponent confused and making many mistakes.
On the first serve, the home players faced four break points, but saved them all. Nam and Thien then broke their opponents' serves to take a 3-1 lead, but then lost the break again. However, the two Vietnamese players still played well in the following games, winning the first set with a score of 6-4.

The second set followed a similar scenario, with the home pair facing break points but once again successfully saving them. Not only that, Nam and Thien played better and better, causing more difficulties for the Japanese pair. Hoang Nam's ability to stick to the net and finish delicately helped him and his teammates score important points to win 6-3, deciding the fate of the match.
Through two sets, Nam - Thien achieved a first serve rate of 74%, while their opponents' rate was only 67%. The home pair took advantage of three out of five times to break, much better than the Japanese pair's rate (1/11).
The home team’s quarter-final opponents are the top seeds from Thailand, the Ratiwatana brothers. This is the pair that Nam and Thien defeated at the F5 Futures in Binh Duong to later win the championship. Therefore, the two Vietnamese players are very confident heading into this rematch.
