Hoang Nam won overwhelmingly at Davis Cup
The tennis player born in 1997 defeated Li Hei Yin Andrew 3-0 (6-1, 6-2, 6-4) on the first day of competition between Vietnam and Hong Kong at the Davis Cup 2017, group two, Asia-Pacific region on the evening of February 3.
Similar to the 2013 clash, Hoang Nam easily defeated Andrew with a score of 3-0. The victory of the world's 635th ranked player helped Vietnam equalize the score 1-1 with Hong Kong after Hoang Thien lost 2-3 to Wong Hong Kit.
Hoang Nam entered the match confidently, dominating his opponent right from the opening shots. In the first set, the Vietnamese player served impressively, scoring two direct points, not giving his opponent a chance to gain a break-point.
The turning point of the match came in the third game. Having the fourth chance to break his opponent's serve, Hoang Nam succeeded with a shot that made all the fans present at Phu Tho Stadium applaud. He hit the ball short, drawing his opponent to the net, executed a tricky lob before launching a powerful smash to finish. After this successful break, Hoang Nam went straight to victory with a score of 6-1.
The second game followed a similar pattern, with Hoang Nam continuing to break serve successfully in the third game. This time the Vietnamese player did not have an impressive performance, but his opponent gave him the victory with two consecutive misses. The final score of the game was 6-2, after Hoang Nam had broken serve twice more.

The match only became a little more tense and exciting in the third game. Andrew actively went to the net, causing Hoang Nam many difficulties. And for the first time in the match, the Hong Kong player broke one of Hoang Nam's serve games (the fourth game). However, Hoang Nam immediately regained the break, winning 6-4 to end the match after one hour and 57 minutes of competition.
Today (February 4), Nguyen Dac Tuan and Pham Minh Tuan will compete in doubles with Rastogi and Wong Chun Hun. On the final day, Hoang Nam will compete with Wong Hong Kit, while Hoang Thien will face Li Hei Yin Andrew.
