(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of August 2, the Ethnic Committee of the Provincial People's Council held a meeting to discuss the orientation of the Committee's program of activities for the 2016-2021 term and assign tasks to Committee members.

Comrades Cao Thi Hien - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Hoang Viet Duong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council attended the meeting.

The scope of activities of the Provincial People's Council's Ethnic Committee is wide; where there are many shortcomings, difficulties, and great development needs; meanwhile, the members of the Committee are mainly part-time. To ensure that the Committee's activities are truly of high quality, creating a real mark for the term, the requirement for each member of the Committee is to make efforts and clearly demonstrate their responsibilities when participating in the activities of the Provincial People's Council in particular, of the Ethnic Committee and the people's representative in particular.

To do this, the Board needs to more clearly define its core tasks based on its functions, task requirements and assigned areas of authority. In particular, it needs to pay special attention to monitoring and survey activities and the content focuses on policies for ethnic minority mountainous areas that have been and are being implemented locally.

During the monitoring and survey process, focus on methods, strengthen monitoring of beneficiaries of policies, on that basis promptly detect shortcomings to make recommendations and propose to the Provincial People's Council to issue appropriate mechanisms and policies, contributing to promoting stronger socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas. Focus on re-monitoring and surveying activities so that the Committee's recommendations are thoroughly resolved, creating high efficiency in monitoring and surveying activities.

At the meeting, the Ethnic Committee of the Provincial People's Council also agreed on a number of key contents that need to be monitored throughout the term and each year; assigned tasks to members in charge of sectors, fields, and areas; clearly defined the responsibilities of each member of the Ethnic Committee at the second session of the Provincial People's Council taking place on August 3 and 4, 2016 and the Committee's tasks in the last 6 months of 2016.
