Students participating in the Olympic team selection exam are exempted from the high school graduation exam.
According to the draft amendment and supplement to the Regulations on the National Excellent Student Competition announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on September 16, in Article 36, the rights of students winning the National Excellent Student Award will have some notable adjustments.

Specifically, according to the draft, students participating in the Olympic team selection exam will be exempted from the high school graduation exam (current regulations are special consideration for high school graduation). The Ministry of Education and Training also plans to abolish the regulation that students participating in training to prepare for regional and international Olympic competitions (organized by the Ministry of Education and Training) will be admitted directly to universities according to their registered wishes.
The draft also adjusts the selection method and number of students for the Olympic teams: After completing the scoring of the Olympic team selection exam, the scoring council will rank the scores from high to low to select candidates (according to the number of scores) for the national teams. The number of selected candidates is equal to the number of members of each team.
