Nghe An students win Bronze Medal at European Physics Olympiad

(Baonghean.vn) - This is the first time a Vietnamese student group has participated in this competition and the student from Nghe An was honored to be specially included in the team.

On the afternoon of June 4, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted announced the good news when student Nguyen Van Binh won a Bronze Medal at the 2019 European Physics Olympiad. This year's competition was held in Latvia and the Vietnamese delegation had 5 students participating.

Sharing about this joy, teacher Phan Xuan Sanh - Nguyen Van Binh's homeroom teacher in class 12A3 shared: This is a great joy, recognizing Binh's efforts and attempts in the past school years and also a great honor for the teachers and the school.

Before that, to be specially admitted to this competition, Binh had achieved many achievements in his studies. In particular, Nguyen Van Binh had won prizes twice in the National Excellent Student Competition with third prize in grade 11 and second prize in grade 12. He was also selected for the second round to select the Vietnam Physics Olympiad team.

In addition to being good at Physics, Binh is also a good student in other subjects and is an active student in social activities. In grade 9, while studying at Dang Thai Mai Secondary School, Nguyen Van Binh won the first prize in Physics of the province and was the valedictorian of the Physics specialized class at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

According to the announcement of the Vietnam Physics Association, this is the first year Vietnam participates in the European Physics Olympiad EuPho 2019, so the Association has selected students with high achievements in competitions for excellent students at all levels to participate in this exam, through 2 forms: entrance exam and selection.

The exam was held from May 31 to June 4 in Latvia. The Vietnamese team participating in this exam has 5 students from the Natural Science High School, Le Hong Phong High School (Nam Dinh), Ha Long High School (Quang Ninh), Bac Ninh High School (Bac Ninh) and Phan Boi Chau High School (Nghe An).
