Nghe An students enthusiastically participate in drawing pictures about 'International Day of the Girl'
(Baonghean.vn) - Many practical activities were organized on the occasion of this year's International Day of the Girl Child with the theme "Promoting gender equality, contributing to reducing gender imbalance at birth". One of those activities was a drawing contest and presentation about girls.
On the morning of October 9, the Provincial Steering Committee for Population and Family Planning coordinated with the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district to organize a communication program in response to the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11 with the theme "Ending sexual abuse and violence against girls".

Sexual abuse and violence against girls in recent years in Vietnam has become one of the most pressing issues for the whole society. The consequences of this problem are extremely serious both physically and mentally for children - the future generation of the country.
According to statistics, on average each year there are 3,000 - 4,000 cases of child abuse, of which about 100 children are found murdered and 1,000 children are sexually abused.

A study of 2,000 students in reform schools found that about 50% of them had experienced harsh treatment from their parents during their childhood. Of these, 23% were beaten by their fathers - six times higher than the rate of beating by their mothers. The majority of victims of sexual abuse were girls.
This year's International Day of the Girl Child takes the theme "Promoting gender equality, contributing to reducing gender imbalance at birth", with the main content being "Ending sexual abuse and violence against girls".

At the same time, warning and reminding them to implement gender equality and create the best conditions for them to study for a brighter future.
At this program, many practical activities were organized, such as: drawing contest and presentation on the topic of girls with the participation of 3 high schools in Thanh Chuong district: Thanh Chuong 3 High School, Nguyen Canh Chan High School and Dang Thai Mai High School, interaction with the audience, and a media scene about population.

On this occasion, the leaders of the Department of Population - Family Planning and Thanh Chuong district awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee to the officials and people of Ngoc Lam commune for their achievement of 3 consecutive years without a third child.and aboveand Xuan Tuong commune has achieved a 50% reduction in third births compared to 2017.
