Nghe An students will finish the school year before May 31, 2024

The Department of Education and Training has just issued a document providing guidance onend of school year 2023 - 2024.

Accordingly, the end of the school year will be implemented according to Decision No. 2388/QD-UBND dated August 7, 2023 of the People's Committee of Nghe An province on promulgating the time plan framework for the 2023-2024 school year for preschool education, general education and continuing education in Nghe An province.

Specifically, in this school year, students will complete their second semester education plan before May 25, 2024 and end the school year before May 31, 2024.

Also according to this instruction, schools need to consider recognizing the completion of primary school program and consider recognizing secondary school graduation before June 30, 2024, and complete enrollment for first-level classes before July 31, 2024.

To proactively and flexibly implement the school year schedule, suitable to the actual conditions of each locality, the Department of Education and Training requires schools to strengthen management work, ensuring safety for students at the end of the school year.

Accordingly, educational institutions coordinate with professional agencies to conduct a review of all trees in the school campus. Immediately handle trees that are leaning or have signs of termites; with perennial trees, it is necessary to pay attention to pruning branches, cutting off rotten and damaged branches, avoiding the situation of trees falling that can cause accidents to staff, teachers, employees and students in the school. In case a tree is found to be at risk of breaking or falling but has not been handled in time, the school must issue a warning of danger and immediately contact a professional agency for handling as soon as possible.

Organize inspection of school facilities such as surrounding walls, foundations, ceilings, walls, water tanks, sewers, to promptly repair damage (if any). Organize inspection, repair, supplement, and replace damaged electrical equipment in classrooms such as electric fans, air conditioners, ventilation fans, etc., paying special attention to power lines in classrooms to avoid cases of overloading the electric current causing fire and explosion, endangering the safety of teachers and students.

TimehotSchools should proactively adjust their educational plans and arrange reasonable timetables; prioritizing early morning time slots to organize teaching of subjects and outdoor educational activities to ensure safety for teachers and students; and not arrange for students to participate in educational activities and extracurricular activities during extremely hot weather.

At the end of the year, schools will also organize meetings, farewells, and gratitude to teachers. According to the Department's direction, for classes that organize souvenir photos at the end of the school year, schools need to direct and guide to avoid offensive images that cause bad public opinion. For the organization of parties, year-end summaries, and farewells to final-term students (if any), it is necessary to ensure safety, health, and economy, avoid ostentation and waste; in accordance with the reality of the school and the students' families.

The organization of the above activities must have a specific plan and be discussed and agreed upon by the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, the Youth Union, the homeroom teachers, and the Parents' Association (when there is agreement from the parents). In addition, the Heads of educational institutions are fully responsible to the superior management agency for the revenues, expenditures, and end-of-term and year-end activities of their units; supervise and coordinate to guide the Parents' Association to strictly implement the regulations in Circular No. 55/2011/TT-BGDDT dated November 22, 2011 of the Ministry of Education and Training.

During the organization of the end-of-term party, students are strictly prohibited from consuming alcohol, beer and other alcoholic beverages. Do not organize picnics, outings or parties in deserted, dangerous or unsafe places for students.

On this occasion, the Department also requested schools to strictly complete the curriculum and organize review sessions for final year students. In addition, they should be flexible in conducting tests and assessments at the end of the second semester in accordance with the actual situation at the unit; to limit overloading for students.

Schools also need to pay attention to teaching and reviewing closely with target groups; regularly communicate and exchange with parents about students' learning results to have plans for coordination and support.
