Students applying to specialized schools will have to take an IQ test.
The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced a draft Circular amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Regulations on organization and operation of specialized high schools.
Accordingly, admission to specialized schools is expected to be organized in two rounds. Round 1: Preliminary selection for students with valid application documents and meeting the requirements. This round is based on the following results: participation in social activities, talent competitions within the scope of local, national, regional organizations of some countries, and internationally; classification of conduct, academic performance in 4 years of secondary school; graduation from secondary school; assessment of intelligence quotient (IQ), emotional quotient (EQ), adversity quotient (AQ) and other intellectual assessment indicators (if there is an assessment organization). The management agency (directly related to specialized schools) stipulates the method of converting scores and the required preliminary scores of the criteria to select students for the second round of admission.
Round 2 can be organized independently or in conjunction with the annual entrance exam for the first grade of high school. The agency directly managing the specialized school shall prescribe the subjects, format and time of each subject for each specialized class; the coefficient of exam scores, admission scores for specialized and non-specialized classes of the specialized school.
