Vietnamese students won 3 gold medals at the International Math Olympiad

Six Vietnamese contestants participating in the 2013 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) all won medals, including three gold medals. Vo Anh Duc (12th grade student of Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted, Ha Tinh province) won a gold medal with a score of 34, ranking first in the entire delegation.

At the 2013 International Mathematical Olympiad held in Colombia, the Vietnamese student team completed their mission excellently. Not only did they break through in terms of rankings and colors, the number of medals won by the Vietnamese team attending IMO 2013 also increased significantly with 3 gold medals and 3 silver medals.

The leader of the Department of Testing and Quality Control said that with this achievement, the Vietnamese team ranked 7th overall - up 2 places compared to the 2012 exam (ranked 9th).

According to information from the official website of the IMO 2013 exam, in addition to Vo Anh Duc, the remaining two gold medals belonged to Pham Tuan Huy - an 11th grade student at the High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City National University - with a score of 33; and Can Tran Thanh Trung - a 12th grade student at the High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City National University - with a score of 31.

The three silver medalists were Dinh Le Cong, a 12th grade student at the High School for the Gifted, Vinh University, with a score of 30; Tran Dang Phuc, a 12th grade student at the High School for the Gifted, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, with a score of 28; and Hoang Do Kien, a 12th grade student at Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted, Vinh Phuc province, with a score of 24.

It is expected that the Vietnamese student group will return to Hanoi on the morning of July 31.
