(Baonghean.vn) -In this year's university entrance exam, Anh Son 1 High School had 2 students who scored 28 points. That is something the school can be proud of, especially for students who overcome difficulties to study well like Phan Van Quan.

Born in 1994 in a farming family in Hamlet 6 Duc Son (Anh Son), Phan Van Quan realized from a young age that if he did not strive and assert himself, he would not have a chance to escape poverty. And studying is the shortest and most sustainable path to success. Throughout his primary school years, Quan was always an excellent student of the school, achieving the provincial excellent student award in grade 5. Although his family circumstances were difficult, Quan's parents always saved money so that Quan could study with his friends. In junior high school, from grade 7 to grade 9, Quan always won high prizes in the district excellent student competition in all three subjects: math, physics, and chemistry.

In high school, Quan passed the entrance exam to the specialized Chemistry class at Vinh University High School for the Gifted. His house was far from school and across the river, so his parents rented a room near the school for Quan to study. At the age of 15, Quan lived far from his family, taking care of his daily life, going to the market and eating. His parents were busy with farming and going to the market, so they rarely came to visit him. As for Quan, his school schedule was full, plus his schedule for nurturing gifted students, so he rarely came home to visit. Only during the harvest and planting season did Quan take the time to come home to help his parents. Without his parents around, without anyone to supervise him, and completely independent, Quan set a strict rule for himself, always being self-disciplined in his studies.

In all three years of high school, his overall score was above 8.5; in grade 12, Quan won the first prize for excellent students in the province in Chemistry. In the recent university entrance exam, Quan took the entrance exam to the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Automation at Hanoi University of Science and Technology with 28 points (Math 8.75; Physics 9.75; Chemistry 9.25) and block B took the entrance exam to Hanoi Medical University.

Quan said he doesn’t have any special secret to studying. His way of studying is similar to many other students: pay attention to what the teacher says in class; master basic knowledge; work hard to solve many exercises; don’t give up when faced with difficult exercises; regularly collect and research documents to expand his knowledge. Quan shared: “Studying is like putting money in a piggy bank. Collect a little knowledge every day, and gradually you will have a full bag.”
