(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, September 9, the Vietnam Red Cross Society Central Committee led by comrade Ha Thai Binh - Head of the Disaster Prevention Committee, went to Long Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) to present flood and storm relief gifts to households. On the provincial side, there was comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representative of the Provincial Red Cross Society.
During this flood, Long Thanh was the commune that suffered the most damage in Yen Thanh district: 17/17 hamlets were completely flooded; 80% of houses were flooded, two schools (Primary and Secondary) were heavily flooded, desks, chairs, and teaching equipment were severely damaged; 750 hectares of rice were submerged in water, with estimated damage of tens of billions of VND. The most pitiful was Phan Van Nghi (4th grade student of Long Thanh Primary School) who was swept away by the water.

After listening to the leaders of Long Thanh commune report on the damage caused by floods in the area, comrade Le Xuan Dai directed the commune, district and departments, unions, and social organizations to promptly support people to overcome the consequences, handle the environment after the flood, and soon stabilize their lives; the district education sector coordinated with local authorities and schools to urgently clean up classrooms immediately after the water receded, ensuring that students could return to school as soon as possible.

Comrade Le Xuan Dai participated in transporting the boxes onto the boat to deliver to families in the flooded areas.
In this relief campaign, the Vietnam Red Cross Society presented 150 boxes of household goods to severely damaged households (each box worth 500,000 VND) along with 50 million VND in cash; supported families with injured people with 500,000 VND and supported families with deceased people with 2,000,000 VND/person; 40,000 water purification tablets.
The provincial Red Cross Society has established delegations to visit, encourage and give relief gifts to severely flooded areas: 500,000 VND for each injured person, 1 million VND for each family of a deceased person and 25 houses swept away by flood, 1 million VND each.
