The Veterans Association of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee pays tribute to heroes and martyrs
(Baonghean.vn) - A delegation of the Veterans Association of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee returned to Ha Giang to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Fatherland.
Towards the 49th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024), from April 18 to 19, 2024, a delegation of the Provincial Party Committee's Veterans Association led by comrade Ho Dang Tai - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee, Chairman of the Association went to Ha Giang to hold a ceremony to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives at Vi Xuyen National Martyrs' Cemetery.
In a solemn atmosphere, delegates respectfully laid flower baskets and offered incense at the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs' Cemetery Memorial and observed a minute of silence to express their respect and deep gratitude to those who fell and sacrificed their blood for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
Located next to National Highway 2, leaning against the Tay Con Linh mountain range, facing the Lo River, Vi Xuyen National Martyrs Cemetery has nearly 1,900 graves of heroic martyrs who fought and sacrificed their lives in the war to protect the northern border. Of these, 346 graves have yet to be identified.
With the spirit of “living on the rocks to fight the enemy, dying on the rocks to be immortal”, thousands of officers and soldiers heroically sacrificed their lives, most of them in their youth. The war has passed, but those tragic and painful memories cannot be forgotten. In Ha Giang, there are still more than 2,000 martyrs who have not been found.
Respectfully commemorating the heroic martyrs, the delegation expressed gratitude and pledged to uphold the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers, actively participate in building and protecting the Party, the State, the socialist regime, and protecting the people.
Actively participate in educating patriotism and revolutionary heroism for the young generation; fight against bureaucracy, corruption, waste and social evils; build and strengthen the Solidarity Association organization, making it increasingly strong, making an important contribution to the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland in the new situation.
