As reported, at the invitation of the Border Marker Planting Committee of Nghe An province, from March 10-13, 2011, the delegation of border marker planting in Bolykhamxay province - Lao PDR, led by comrade Kham Bun Nat Xay Nha Non - Deputy Secretary, Deputy Governor, Head of the Border Marker Planting Committee of Bolykhamxay province visited and worked in Nghe An province. Receiving and working with the delegation, on the side of Nghe An province was comrade Thai Van Hang - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Marker Planting Committee, along with comrades in the Provincial Marker Planting Committee, Provincial Border Guard Command.

After offering incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at Kim Lien relic site, on March 12, the delegation of border marker planting from Bolikhamxay province and Nghe An province held talks on border marker planting, opening and upgrading border gates.

At the meeting, comrade Thai Van Hang affirmed that in recent years, the work of renovating and increasing the density of national border markers has been carried out by the two countries in general and the two provinces in particular with good results. Currently, the border marker planting with Xieng Khouang province has been basically completed, and the process is being accelerated with other provinces. Bordering Bolykhamxay province, there are 39 markers, so far the survey of 14 markers has been completed, 3 markers have been built, and 3 markers are under construction. Nghe An highly appreciated the cooperation of Bolykhamxay province in determining the boundary, as well as the process of planting markers between the two provinces and two countries.

Regarding the upgrading of Thanh Thuy - Nam On border gate to become a main border gate, Nghe An has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Vietnam for approval. Thanh Thuy border gate has many advantages in terms of terrain, distance and scope of operation, helping the people of Vietnam and Laos to trade goods and develop tourism. In addition, it also creates favorable conditions for maintaining national security and defense of the border between the two countries.

The two sides also discussed the opening of the Cao Veu-Thong Phi La secondary border gate in the near future. Accordingly, the two provinces will complete the documents and submit them to the two governments before the second quarter of 2011, and by the end of 2011, the border gate opening ceremony will be held.

At the end of the working session, leaders of Nghe An and Bolykhamxay provinces signed a memorandum of understanding on the contents agreed upon during the talks.
