The UN Security Council has five new non-permanent members.
On October 15, the United Nations General Assembly voted to elect five new non-permanent members of the Security Council. The elected countries were Egypt, Japan, Senegal, Ukraine and Uruguay.

The new members will begin their two-year term on the Security Council from January 2016, replacing Chad, Chile, Jordan, Lithuania and Nigeria.
The United Nations Security Council consists of 15 member countries, including 5 permanent members (UK, France, US, Russia and China) and 10 non-permanent members./.
