National Press Conference 2011
On May 5, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda Department coordinated with the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Journalists Association to organize a national press conference to review press activities in 2010 and deploy key tasks in 2011.
Attending and directing the Conference were Politburo members: Truong Tan Sang, Standing member of the Secretariat; Dinh The Huynh, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department. Comrades: Ta Ngoc Tan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration; Nguyen The Ky, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Le Doan Hop, Minister of Information and Communications; Do Quy Doan, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, chaired the Conference. Attending the Conference were leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, Vietnam Journalists Association; leaders of the Propaganda Departments of provincial and municipal Party Committees; governing agencies and leaders of press agencies nationwide.
After listening to the report evaluating the press work in 2010 and some main tasks in 2011, 15 papers presented at the Conference, on behalf of the Politburo and the Secretariat, comrade Truong Tan Sang highly appreciated and commended the efforts of domestic press agencies.
He also pointed out shortcomings and weaknesses in the direction and management of the press as well as the activities of a number of press agencies and journalists; and outlined a number of key tasks for management agencies, press management agencies, and press agencies nationwide.
In his concluding remarks at the Conference, Comrade Dinh The Huynh emphasized: The consistent and core task of the press agencies in 2011 is to focus on propagating and disseminating to all classes of people the documents of the 11th Party Congress, contributing to bringing the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress into life; continuing to widely propagate the Campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh"; propagating the election of deputies to the 13th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term; implementing Conclusion No. 02-KL/T.Ư of the Politburo on the socio-economic situation in 2011, Resolution 11-NQ/CP of the Government on curbing inflation, stabilizing the macro-economy, ensuring social security...
The authorities need to review the mechanism of spokespersons to provide information to the press; need to build a coordination mechanism between the press management and management agencies to ensure that press information is beneficial to the country. The press needs to continue to perform its function of monitoring all social activities; continue to fully promote and accurately ensure the critical role of the press.
