ASEAN Defense Chiefs Informal Meeting

Within the framework of the 2013 ASEAN military-defense conferences, on the morning of March 18, Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, led a high-ranking military delegation of the Vietnam People's Army to leave Hanoi to attend the 10th ASEAN Chiefs of Defense Forces Informal Meeting (ACDFIM-10) in Brunei from March 19 to 21.

The 10th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Informal Meeting, chaired by Brunei, opened on March 20 with the theme: “Together to Protect Our People and Our Future.”

At the conference, the Vietnamese delegation will speak about the military's experience in developing military medicine, contributing to improving people's health, solving environmental problems, supporting humanitarian activities and disaster relief.

Through the conference, Vietnam's foreign policy of multilateralization, diversification and proactive, responsible approach to international and regional issues was affirmed; the struggle to protect the interests of the nation and people was demonstrated; the goodwill was demonstrated to promote friendly relations between the Vietnamese army and the armies of ASEAN countries, for the goal of peace, stability and development in the region and the world; and Vietnam's role and position in the region and the world were further affirmed./.
