Conference to collect comments on the Draft Civil Code (amended)
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 13, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee held a conference to collect opinions on the draft Civil Code (amended). Comrade Nguyen Van Huy, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee chaired the conference.
Attending were members of the Advisory Council of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, representatives of the Department of Justice, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Provincial Police, and Bar Association.

The draft Civil Code (amended) has 26 Chapters and 712 articles, 10 Chapters and 65 articles less than the current Civil Code, including 265 articles of the 2005 Code, amending nearly 300 articles, adding more than 170 and abolishing 150 articles. The draft Code stipulates many fundamental innovations in terms of scope of regulation, subjects, ownership, assets, civil transactions, etc.
Opinions at the Conference basically agreed with the draft Civil Code (amended) and focused on providing in-depth comments on issues regarding the responsibility of competent authorities in protecting civil rights, subjects of civil legal relationships, personal rights, protection of bona fide third parties in cases where civil transactions are invalid, and forms of ownership.

In addition, delegates also focused on giving opinions on issues such as contract adjustment when circumstances change; on the time of establishing ownership and other property rights, on interest rates, statute of limitations and other issues related to interest rates in property loan contracts.
Organizing the collection of comments on the draft amendments to the Civil Code is a broad political and legal activity, promoting the right to mastery and mobilizing the intelligence of officials and people of all walks of life to participate in law-making, ensuring the concretization of the provisions of the Vietnamese Constitution on recognizing, respecting, protecting and ensuring human rights and civil rights.
