Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Foreign Ministers Meeting opens in India
The 11th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Foreign Ministers' Meeting opened this morning (November 11) in India, chaired by host country Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid.
This conference has the theme "ASEM Connecting Partners for Growth and Development". This is the first time India has hosted the ASEM foreign ministers' meeting.

Speaking at the conference, Indian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said India is working to promote a new approach to orient discussions at ASEM conferences, from dialogue to truly clear cooperation to make ASEM more "mature".
ASEM is an informal political dialogue forum to discuss political issues based on the principles of equality, openness and mutual respect, and to actively contribute to strengthening cooperation and maintaining peace and stability in the two regions and the world. This conference will last for 2 days.
