Conference on crop production in the Northern provinces in 2012
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 1, in Cua Lo Town, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held the 2012 Conference on Crop Production in the Northern Provinces. Attending the conference were leaders of the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development of 32 Northern provinces and cities, along with representatives of Departments, Bureaus, and Institutes under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. On the provincial side, there was Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Dang Khoa chaired the conference.
At the conference, delegates listened to the preliminary report on the production of the 2011-2012 winter-spring crop and deployed the production plan for the 2012 summer-autumn, summer-autumn and winter crops. However, production encountered difficulties due to unusual weather conditions and the development of harmful pests and diseases, especially blast disease and leaf rollers. Up to now, the rice fields have begun to enter the harvest period, with an expected yield of nearly 62 quintals/ha, about 0.9 quintals/ha lower than the 2011 winter-spring crop.
In the summer-autumn crop production plan this year, we will strive to cultivate about 167,000 hectares, mainly concentrated in the North Central region. The proposed technical solutions include: Arranging the crop season and variety structure appropriately; increasing the use of very short-term and short-term rice varieties with high yield, quality, and resistance to pests and adverse external conditions; sowing as early as possible; increasing the application of technical measures; implementing good planning and forecasting to prevent pests and diseases; proactively irrigating and preventing natural disasters.
The conference will take place on June 1 and 2. On this occasion, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will organize a meeting of the Crop Production Forecasting Network and train the agricultural monitoring network of the Mesmard project, discussing the restructuring project of the agricultural sector in the field of crop production.
