Conference to summarize Buddhist work in 2013

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 22 in Vinh City, the Executive Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Nghe An province held a conference to summarize Buddhist activities in 2013 and deploy the direction of activities in 2014. Attending the conference was comrade Thai Van Hang - Member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Over the past year, the Buddhist activities of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee of Nghe An Province have achieved remarkable results in disseminating the Buddha's teachings and building a moral lifestyle in society. All members of the Executive Committee always demonstrate the spirit of "Good religion, good life", associated with the Church's motto of "Religion, Nation and Socialism". Especially in social charity work, there have been practical activities through timely relief for people affected by storms and floods in Quynh Luu; Hoang Mai Town and some other localities with a total value of over 6 billion VND, supporting many congenital heart surgeries for poor households, organizing free medical examinations and medicine distribution, etc.

The conference proposed a program of Buddhist activities in 2014: Continue to mobilize monks, nuns, and Buddhists to promote the spirit of patriotism, participate in movements that benefit the country and the people, and contribute to promoting the cause of building the country for the goal of "Rich people, strong country, fair, democratic, and civilized society".

Speaking at the conference, comrade Thai Van Hang highly appreciated the results achieved by the Provincial Buddhist Executive Committee, which has followed the Party and State's guidelines and policies, and pointed out a number of shortcomings and limitations, hoping that the Provincial Buddhist Executive Committee will direct the implementation of social security work better.

On this occasion, the Provincial Buddhist Executive Committee issued 7 Decisions approving the personnel committees; cultural committee; information and communication committee, control committee, ritual committee, monk committee, etc.

At the conference, comrade Thai Van Hang awarded certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee to 01 collective and 04 individuals with many outstanding achievements in humanitarian charity work, and well organized Buddhist cultural week activities in 2012.
