(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 1, 2014, the Ministry of Public Security held a conference to review the work of climate change response, flood and storm prevention and search and rescue in the Public Security Forces in 2013 and deploy work in 2014. Senior Lieutenant General Dang Van Hieu - Permanent Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the conference.

In 2013, the Central Public Security Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security paid attention to and resolutely directed the work of responding to climate change, flood and storm prevention and search and rescue in the entire People's Public Security force. Proactively organized inspections and urged police units and localities, especially in key areas of storms and floods; reviewed, counted and evaluated the actual capacity of materials and means of fire prevention and search and rescue in the entire force; promptly allocated and supplemented funds to serve the "4 on-the-spot" requirements for the Public Security units and localities before the rainy and stormy season, so the work of responding to natural disasters, floods, storms and accidents has been more proactive and has had many positive changes, contributing to limiting human and property damage.

The police of local units across the country have proactively developed and implemented plans and organized drills, exercises, and training on responding to natural disasters, floods, and storms in accordance with the geographical characteristics of each specific locality; the sense of responsibility, command and management capacity of the leaders of the police at all levels have been raised; information and propaganda work has been promoted to raise awareness and sense of responsibility for the people and police officers about the task of preventing and mitigating natural disasters as well as propagating the activities of the People's Police force participating in flood and storm prevention, search and rescue; participating officers and soldiers have proactively overcome difficulties, raised their sense of responsibility for natural disaster prevention, flood and storm prevention, search and rescue, participated in evacuating people, ensuring security and order, which have been recognized and highly appreciated by the people and Party committees and authorities at all levels, affirming the core role of the police force in preventing and mitigating natural disasters.
