Nghe An Farmers' Association launched a movement for farmers to plant trees to prevent landslides and create landscapes on both banks of the Lam River.
At the launching ceremony, leaders of the Provincial Farmers' Association, leaders of Thanh Chuong district and farmers' association members of Dung town planted some kapok trees and 300 bamboo trees along the Lam River bank through Thanh Chuong town.
On the morning of February 8, in Thanh Chuong district, the Provincial Farmers' Association organized the launching ceremony of "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" in the year of At Ty 2025; launching the movement of farmers planting trees to prevent landslides associated with creating landscape on both banks of Lam River.
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Quang Tung - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Union; Trinh Van Nha - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong District. Also attending were Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Union; departments and offices of the Provincial Farmers' Union and Thanh Chuong District.

Over the years, our Party and State have always paid attention to and directed the implementation of many tree planting programs to protect the environment, prevent natural disasters, and contribute to sustainable socio-economic development. During his lifetime, our President Ho Chi Minh once said, "For the benefit of ten years, we must plant trees; for the benefit of a hundred years, we must cultivate people."
Implementing Uncle Ho's teachings, in recent times, farmers' associations at all levels in the province have promoted propaganda work, mobilizing farmers to actively respond to and participate in the tree planting movement in each locality, especially the movement of planting "Farmers' trees in gratitude to Uncle Ho" and have achieved very important results, contributing to socio-economic development, protecting the ecological environment, and minimizing the damage caused by natural disasters.

Comrade Nguyen Quang Tung - Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association said: The Tet tree planting movement to forever remember Uncle Ho is a regular activity of Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province. In 2025, the Standing Committee of the Farmers' Association will continue to promote the movement, in addition, implementing a new approach, which is to launch a movement of farmers planting trees to prevent landslides associated with improving the landscape of rivers.

Among them, Lam River, the largest river in Nghe An province, not only provides an important water source for agricultural production and daily life but also has profound cultural and historical significance. Although the State has invested in anti-erosion works, due to many factors, riverbank erosion is becoming increasingly serious, threatening land, houses and riverside ecosystems.
From the experience of our ancestors and from the success of planting bamboo to prevent local landslides by the Provincial Farmers' Association as a pilot in Anh Son district, in 2025, the Standing Committee launched a movement to plant wave-breaking trees associated with creating landscapes for rivers, focusing on landslide areas along the Lam River.

One of the sustainable, effective and low-cost solutions to overcome this situation is to plant bamboo along the river banks. Planting bamboo not only helps protect the river banks from erosion but also creates a green landscape, bringing great economic and environmental value.
The Provincial Farmers' Association proposed that each branch plant a row of trees expressing gratitude to Uncle Ho and attach them to a sign welcoming the Party Congress at all levels. The Provincial Farmers' Association's policy received the approval of the provincial leaders, all levels of the Association and its members.

To promote the fine traditions of the nation and the achievements of the Association at all levels in the past time, at the Launching Ceremony, the representative of the Provincial Farmers' Association requested that the Provincial Farmers' Association at all levels focus on widely disseminating to a large number of members and farmers about the purpose and meaning of the Tree Planting Festival.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, leaders of the Provincial Farmers' Association, leaders of Thanh Chuong district and farmers' association members of Dung town, Thanh Chuong district planted some kapok trees and 300 bamboo trees along the Lam River bank through Thanh Chuong town.
