Seminar on Population - Family Planning
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 7, the General Department of Population and Family Planning organized a seminar on population and family planning.
Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Viet Tien - Deputy Minister of Health; Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Population and representatives of the Population Departments of 31 northern provinces and cities. On Nghe An side, there were Ms. Dinh Thi Le Thanh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of relevant departments and branches.

Currently, Vietnam's population/family planning work is facing many challenges and new problems. These include the serious gender imbalance at birth, the problem of taking advantage of the golden population structure when the quality of human resources is still limited, the problem of promoting the role and care of the elderly, the problem of low birth rate, the problem of communication and providing reproductive health care/family planning services...

| Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh affirmed: Over the past years, population work has actively contributed to the socio-economic development of Nghe An province, increasing annual per capita income, eliminating hunger, reducing poverty and improving people's living standards. |
This workshop listened to reports on projects and models that have been implemented in the past time, frankly and objectively acknowledged the above shortcomings. At the same time, listened to the opinions, contributed ideas, shared experiences, good and effective practices to find drastic solutions for the next 6 months to achieve the planned targets and especially new issues, issues that are turning points in Vietnam's population work.

Speaking at the workshop, Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, also informed about the changes in Nghe An's population work in recent years. Notably, the family size with one or two children is becoming more and more popular, the rate of couples in childbearing age accepting modern contraceptive methods is increasing, contributing to the population growth rate down to 1.08%; the quality of the population is increasingly improved... Comrade also affirmed that the workshop is a good opportunity for Nghe An to learn from experience and an opportunity for Nghe An to promote the image of the province to a large number of delegates attending.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh also presented a bouquet of flowers to congratulate the General Department of Population and Family Planning on World Population Day, November 7.
