Field workshop on Phuc Uu 868 rice variety in Quynh Luu

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 12, the Quynh Luu district agricultural extension station coordinated with Nam An Joint Stock Company to organize a field conference on Phuc Uu 868 rice variety at Quynh Vien Cooperative, Quynh Thach commune.

Phuc Uu 868 is a 2-line hybrid rice variety produced and supplied by Southern Seed Joint Stock Company, recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and allowed for trial production nationwide since early 2013. In the 2015 Winter-Spring crop, this rice variety was put into trial cultivation on an area of ​​1 hectare in Hamlet 2, Quynh Vien Cooperative, Quynh Thach Commune.

Through practical surveys, it is shown that this is a hybrid rice variety with high yield potential; short growing period of 125-130 days; strong growth, concentrated tillering, strong plants, compact stems and leaves, lodging resistance and disease resistance; relatively wide adaptability; large and long panicles. The average yield in the spring crop is about 6.8 to 7 tons/ha. This is a rice variety that can expand production in the district, suitable for the late spring and summer-autumn crop structure.

At the workshop, delegates also requested Nam An Company to continue testing in the coming years, on different soils to fully evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the variety compared to other rice varieties being mass produced in the district, as a basis for propaganda and replication./.
