In 2009, the purebred rice variety DQ11 was selected and bred by Hong Quang Agricultural Materials Company Limited (Ninh Binh). After completing the testing process, at the end of 2013, the Department of Crop Production, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development decided to recognize DQ11 as a new agricultural crop variety and allow mass production in the provinces of the Red River Delta and the North Central region.
In this Spring crop 2015, purebred rice variety DQ11 was put into trial planting in 4 districts of Nghe An province including: Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc and Dien Chau, each model point implemented 0.5 ha.
In Nam Dan, it was planted in Hamlet 20, Xuan Lam Commune. Through field surveys, it was found that this is a rice variety that grows and develops well, has a short growing period, ranging from 116-118 days, is hard-growing, has good lodging resistance, and is widely adapted to the soil in Nghe An. The rice flowers evenly, blooms quickly, blooms in clusters, has long flowers, and the grains are closely packed together, ripens quickly, and has a low rate of empty grains (about 14.9%), with an estimated average yield of 63.7 quintals/ha.
The workshop aims to evaluate and compare so that localities in the province in general and Nam Dan in particular can continue to select and apply in production in the coming time, in order to gradually replace other pure rice varieties that have been and are degenerating.
