On November 29, 2014, the Dien Chau Agricultural Extension Station, in collaboration with CP Vietnam Seed Company Limited, organized a field workshop to inspect and evaluate the results of the model. The CP.111 and CP.501 corn varieties are hybrid corn varieties with an average growth period of 100-110 days. They are strong and healthy plants, resistant to unusual weather conditions and pests and diseases, with large, dark green leaves that remain until the end of the season. The husks completely cover the ears, resulting in large ears with thick kernels and small cobs. Yields were assessed at 6.8 tons/ha for CP.111 and 8.7 tons/ha for CP.501; these varieties can be grown three times a year. Mr. Hoang Van Thanh – Chairman of Tien Thanh Cooperative, Dien Thanh commune, commented: The CP.111 and CP.501 corn varieties have good lodging resistance, large, wide leaves, and a sloping leaf shape, so they can be planted at high densities. Even after harvesting, the leaves remain dark green, making them suitable as animal feed, and the yield is higher than other corn varieties currently grown in the area.

In his concluding remarks at the workshop, Mr. Phan Xuan Vinh – Head of the Agriculture Department of Dien Chau District – emphasized: The corn seeds from Vietnam Joint Stock Company have established brands, and the CP.111 and CP.501 varieties are new, high-quality varieties with promising potential to be added to the crop structure for both the spring and autumn seasons of 2015. He requested that the company continue to develop larger-scale models for the spring crop of 2015 to confirm the potential, yield, and quality of these varieties.
