Workshop on Innovation Project for Low-Income People

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 20 in Vinh city, the Department of Science and Technology coordinated with the Department of Enterprise Development - Ministry of Planning and Investment to organize a Workshop on the Project "Innovation towards low-income people in the period 2013 - 2018".

The Vietnam Low-Income Innovation Project, supported by the World Bank to the Government of Vietnam, aims to develop and implement an innovation program in Vietnam, thereby increasing the participation of research institutes, universities and enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises, in research and development, improvement, upgrading and expansion, technology application and product commercialization for the benefit of the poor and low-income groups. At the same time, it encourages the participation of enterprises in innovation and technology upgrading, thereby improving the competitiveness of enterprises.

The project has a total investment capital of 55.625 million USD with the following objectives: Strengthening the capacity of state agencies in formulating business development policies and technology innovation policies; encouraging research institutes and enterprises to cooperate closely in developing and upgrading research results and technologies that are ready to be developed into better quality products at more reasonable prices to serve low-income people; encouraging enterprises to accept risks, boldly invest in technology innovation and commercialize products through a mechanism combining both granting and lending.

Priority areas for support are Traditional Medicine and Medicinal Materials, Information Technology and Communications, Agriculture and Aquaculture. Direct beneficiaries of the project include: Research and Development Institutes participating in the field of technological innovation, individuals with grassroots technological innovation initiatives; enterprises participating in technology application, upgrading and innovation; Government agencies formulating policies on enterprise development and technological innovation policies.

Also at the seminar, the Department of Science and Technology introduced to delegates about Fingerprint Biometric Technology, certified by the Asian Biometric Center ADRC - operating in the field of detecting innate intellectual abilities, thereby orienting education and future orientation based on fingerprint biometric technology. This technology has been developed in advanced countries for more than 30 years such as the US, Germany, India, Italy, Japan... In Vietnam, after 3 years of operation, nearly 5,000 customers have performed biometric testing with an accuracy of over 90%. Using this technology, people will discover the wonders of the brain, thereby developing themselves, shortening the path to happiness and success in life.
