Scientific seminar "Buddhist culture of Nghe An - Past, present and future"
(Baonghean.vn) -Within the framework of the Buddhist Cultural Week with the theme "Nghe An Buddhism accompanies the nation", this morning, August 13, the Institute of Religious Studies coordinated with the Nghe An Buddhist Executive Committee to organize the scientific seminar "Buddhist culture of Nghe An - Past, present and future".

Attending the workshop, on the side of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, there were Most Venerable Thich Thien Duyen - member of the Central Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Thich Thanh Nhieu - Permanent Vice President of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Executive Committee of Nghe An Buddhism and representatives of the Venerables of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. On the side of the Central Committee, there were comrades: Nguyen Van Thanh - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Major General Le Dinh Luyen - Director of the Department of Social Security - Ministry of Public Security; Nguyen Quoc Tuan - Director of the Institute of Religious Studies, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences. On the side of the provincial leaders, there were comrade Thai Van Hang - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Fatherland Front, departments, branches and cultural and historical researchers inside and outside the province.
The scientific conference “Buddhist culture of Nghe An - Past, present and future” has 70 presentations by cultural researchers and historians nationwide. The content focuses on 4 topics: Positioning Nghe An culture and Buddhist culture of Nghe An through related sources; Correlation between Nghe An cultural heritage and Buddhist culture of Nghe An in history; Buddhism of Nghe An: characters and achievements; Building Nghe An Buddhism in the present and future.
In recent times, with the attention of the Party, the State and all levels of government, Buddhism in Nghe An has developed strongly, the Provincial Buddhist Association was established, the number of Buddhist monks and nuns is increasing, pagodas have been restored and many meaningful Buddhist activities and rituals have been organized. The organization of the scientific conference "Buddhist Culture in Nghe An - Past, Present and Future" aims to gather all sources of documents related to Buddhism in Nghe An to widely introduce and raise awareness for monks, nuns, Buddhists and all classes of people. At the same time, there is a correct and satisfactory assessment of the contents, values and roles of Buddhism in history; Orientation to promote these values in the work of building and protecting the country, building an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity.
