Workshop on History of Farmers' Movement, Provincial Farmers' Association 1929-2015
(Baonghean.vn) - On September 4, Nghe An Provincial Farmers' Association organized a Workshop on the History of the Farmers' Movement, Nghe An Provincial Farmers' Association 1929-2015. Attending and participating in the discussion at the Workshop were comrade Bui Dinh Sam - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; historical researchers; authors of the draft book on the History of Nghe An Farmers' Movement 1929-1997; leaders of the Provincial Farmers' Association, members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Farmers' Association through the periods.

Born in November 1929, under the leadership of the Central Party Committee, the Nghe An Provincial General Farmers' Association was established. Comrade Phan Thai At (Duong Xuan village, Linh Son commune, Anh Son district) was elected as Secretary and laid the foundation for the growth and development of the Association later. After the Communist Party of Vietnam was born on the basis of merging three communist organizations, the Nghe An Red Farmers' Association was widely developed throughout the province. Under the leadership of the Association, Nghe An farmers from the beginning of the revolutionary period united to stand up and fight, culminating in the Soviet-Nghe Tinh movement (1930-1931). Through the revolutionary periods, Nghe An farmers always stood side by side with workers, intellectuals and other classes to make glorious achievements; contributing together with the army and people of the whole country to make the Spring General Offensive in 1975 to bring the country back together, the whole country moving forward to build socialism.

Implementing the Party's innovation, Nghe An farmers, under the organization and direction of the Farmers' Association, have organized many patriotic emulation movements in production and building a new life. The achievements from the farmers' movement and the Association's work have contributed significantly to changing the face of the province's countryside, changing the lives of farmers both materially and spiritually.

Speaking at the workshop, historical researchers and veteran cadres of the Association through the periods clarified the heroic history of the peasant class and the Farmers' Association. At the same time, they affirmed that the reprinting, editing and supplementing of the History of the Peasant Movement and the Farmers' Association of Nghe An is not only a historical work to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Association but also a gesture of gratitude to the farmers in the heroic Soviet homeland who did not spare their blood and bones to build and defend the Fatherland, and who have strived to build a new life of prosperity and happiness.
