On this occasion, Mr. Vo Van Thuong asked China to respect Vietnam's legitimate rights and interests at sea.

Implementing the cooperation program between the two Parties on theoretical research, on the morning of July 21, in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, China, the Opening Ceremony of the 15th Theoretical Workshop between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of China took place with the theme "Some regular issues in the process of socialist modernization".

The delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam was led by Mr. Vo Van Thuong - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department. The delegation of the Communist Party of China was led by Mr. Hoang Khon Minh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat, Head of the Central Propaganda Department.

At the opening ceremony of the workshop, Mr. Vo Van Thuong, Head of the delegation of our Party, gave an introductory speech titled “Issues of a regular nature in the process of socialist modernization”. Mr. Hoang Khon Minh, Head of the delegation of the Communist Party of China, gave an introductory speech titled “Some perceptions of the laws of building socialist modernization in China”.

According to the schedule, the workshop will take place over two days, July 21-22. During the discussion sessions, delegates from both sides will focus on exchanging and sharing theoretical and practical issues in the process of building and modernizing socialism in each country.

Mr. Vo Van Thuong and Mr. Trieu Lac Te

Previously, Mr. Vo Van Thuong had a meeting with Mr. Trieu Lac Te, member of the Politburo Standing Committee, Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China; and held talks with Mr. Hoang Khong Minh, member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Secretariat, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The two sides informed each other about the situation of each Party and each country, exchanged opinions on the relations between the two Parties and the two countries in recent times, and discussed directions to continue promoting the healthy and stable development of the relations between the two Parties and the two countries in the coming time; and discussed directions for implementing cooperation and exchange between the Central Propaganda Department of our Party and the Central Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China.

Regarding the maritime issue, Mr. Vo Van Thuong frankly suggested that both sides need to properly implement the common perceptions reached by the senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries, including the Agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of maritime issues between Vietnam and China; resolve disagreements by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. He requested that China respect Vietnam's legitimate and legal rights and interests at sea in accordance with international law, and not let them negatively affect the development of relations between the two countries./.
