Workshop to improve professional ethics of journalists

(Baonghean.vn) - This morning, July 4, 2012, in Sam Son Town - Thanh Hoa, the Emulation Cluster of the Journalists Association of the North Central provinces organized a Workshop on "Journalists Association and coordination with press agencies in improving professional ethics of journalists". Attending the workshop were representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Department of Sports, Culture and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province and representatives of 6 Journalists Associations of the North Central cluster: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue.

The workshop raised 9 regulations in the ethics of journalists, emphasized and clearly defined the professional ethics of journalists on the issues: Political awareness, civic responsibility, social responsibility of journalists and affirmed: One of the important tasks of the Journalists Association at all levels is to educate and build professional ethical standards for journalists in the process of integration and development.

The workshop had 9 presentations revolving around the issue of improving professional ethics for journalists today. Many presentations raised the current situation of journalism from the perspective of journalist ethics such as: "Cultivating professional ethics to fulfill the social responsibility of journalism" by the Ha Tinh Journalists Association, the presentation "Professional ethics of journalists - viewed from the perspective of anti-corruption" by the Nghe An Journalists Association, or the presentation "The authenticity of journalism" by Thanh Hoa Radio and Television Station... Many lessons were presented, in which the important role of the Journalists Association in coordinating with press agencies to improve the professional ethics of journalists.



Journalist Ha Kim Chi - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association - Head of the Inspection Committee gave her opinion at the workshop.

Attending the workshop, representatives of the Association Working Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association and leaders of Thanh Hoa province gave speeches appreciating the association working activities of the emulation clusters of 6 provinces; through answering a number of recommendations, they oriented the propaganda work to develop and enhance the role of the Journalists Association in the coming time./.
