Workshop "Improving the efficiency of public investment - the role of provincial People's Councils"
(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, June 5, in Cua Lo Town, the Provincial People's Council coordinated with the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee to organize a workshop on "Improving the efficiency of public investment - the role of the Provincial People's Council". Attending the workshop were managers, scientists, and economic experts from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Law, and universities, colleges, and vocational high schools in the province. Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council chaired the workshop.
Overview of the workshop
The workshop is a scientific research activity to evaluate and summarize the current public investment practices in general and in the province in particular; thereby proposing directions and solutions as well as clarifying the role of the Provincial People's Council to improve the efficiency of public investment in the province in the coming time.
At the workshop, delegates focused on clarifying the requirements for public investment, which currently accounts for a large proportion of the total investment capital from the state budget; development planning and investment orientation for the next 5 and 10 years, including the North Central region; issues on public investment capital planning and key points of public investment management; innovation in public investment management mechanisms in the process of economic restructuring; the relationship between public investment and public debt - some issues for local authorities; the role of the Provincial People's Council in deciding on planning and socio-economic development plans; the supervisory role of the Provincial People's Council in implementing planning and implementing public investment as well as contributing to improving the efficiency of public investment in the province.
