(Baonghean.vn) – On the morning of July 5, in Vinh city, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences in coordination with the People's Committee of Nghe An province organized a national scientific conference on Preserving and promoting the values of cultural heritage and natural heritage in the North Central region. Attending the conference were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien; and many professors, doctors, and leading experts nationwide.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of departments, branches, scholars, and researchers related to the field of conservation and promotion of natural heritage values in the province.

This scientific conference aims to study, evaluate the value and clarify the current status of the cultural heritage system and natural heritage in the North Central region, thereby proposing to relevant central agencies and localities in the region solutions for conservation and restoration. This is a necessary work to contribute to the building of an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, and at the same time contribute to the comprehensive development of the economy, culture and society in our country today.
Speaking at the scientific conference, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee warmly welcomed the scientists who attended the conference; at the same time, he affirmed that the North Central region is a sacred land with outstanding people, with a long history and culture, where many tangible and intangible cultural heritages are preserved, representing the struggle to build and defend the country. In recent years, the North Central provinces have had dynamic and timely policies and strategies in preserving and promoting cultural and natural heritages. Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong hopes that from the workshop, many scientifically-based solutions will be proposed to help localities plan, build strategies, preserve and promote the value of cultural heritage; Through that, organize many rich and creative activities to connect, arouse the potential strengths of the region, for the cause of innovation, environmental protection and sustainable development.
At the workshop, delegates listened to nearly 80 presentations by scientists. The presentations focused on the content of recommendations for the conservation and promotion of the value of cultural and natural heritages in the North Central region, strengthening the connection in environmental protection of cultural and natural heritages for sustainable development of tourism in particular and socio-economy in general. The workshop took place over two days, July 5 and 6. On the first day, the workshop focused on discussing two topics: “Conservation and promotion of natural heritage values” and “Conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values”.
