Workshop to comment on the Draft Law on Military Service (amended).

(Baonghean.vn) - The Command of Military Region 4 recently held a workshop to give opinions on the Draft Law on Military Service (amended) 2014. Major General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Military Region chaired the workshop.

Overview of the Workshop.

At the workshop, many opinions of leaders and commanders of units directly managing the army analyzed and clarified the positive and negative aspects in the implementation of the Law on Military Service in localities and units in the recent past. In particular, focusing on the contents of 9 chapters and 70 articles of the Draft Law on Military Service (amended), namely: Scope of regulation, subjects of application and obligations of active service; Registration for military service; Term of active service of non-commissioned officers and soldiers; Service of non-commissioned officers and soldiers on active duty and non-commissioned officers and soldiers on reserve; Preparation for citizens to serve in active duty; National Defense and Security Education; Composition of the Military Service Council and subjects of temporary deferment and exemption from military service.

With arguments, analysis, and objective assessments based on theory and practice at the grassroots unit, many opinions have clarified the achievements and shortcomings of each plan and the enlistment time of non-commissioned officers and soldiers. In particular, the issues that many units and localities are interested in are: Advantages and difficulties in the selection and calling of citizens to join the army in localities; ensuring social justice; the work of managing troops and the quality of completing tasks of non-commissioned officers and soldiers...etc. On that basis, opinions at the Workshop agreed that the enlistment time of non-commissioned officers and soldiers in the Draft Law on Military Service amended in 2014 is 24 months, at the same time, contributing many opinions to propose amending and supplementing a number of words and issues in the Draft Law on Military Service amended.
