Workshop on implementing the national strategy on gender equality
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 30, in Vinh City, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs held a workshop to review 5 years of implementing the National Strategy and National Program on Gender Equality for the period 2011 - 2015, and develop a plan for the period 2016 - 2020.

After 5 years of implementing the Law on Gender Equality, the awareness of people in the province on gender issues and gender equality has increased, the position and role of each gender is viewed objectively. Agencies and authorities have many mechanisms and policies to create favorable conditions for effectively implementing basic rights and promoting the role of women in socio-economic development. The work of planning, training, fostering, promoting and using qualified female cadres to hold leadership positions in Party agencies, authorities, the Fatherland Front and people's organizations at all levels has been paid attention to and focused on, especially young cadres; the position of women is increasingly affirmed and enhanced in society.

With these results, Nghe An women have increasingly risen to hold important positions in all sectors and fields, contributing greatly to the sustainable development of the province, gradually reducing gender inequality between men and women. However, besides the achievements in gender equality, there are still limitations such as weak propaganda and training at the grassroots level; gender mainstreaming in the policy planning and implementation process has not been implemented synchronously and proactively; the proportion of women participating in leadership in provincial, district and commune agencies is still low compared to the plan.

In the coming time, relevant departments and sectors need to coordinate synchronously and actively with localities in integrating gender into socio-economic development plans; strengthen propaganda work on gender equality; incorporate gender equality content into teaching in general schools, extracurricular activities of schools and in the system of political schools./.
