Workshop on deploying new corn variety P4199

(Baonghean.vn) - To help farmers choose hybrid corn varieties with high yield, good resistance, and suitable for local farming conditions, on the morning of March 18, Nghia Dan district coordinated with Pioneer Company to organize a workshop to evaluate the results of testing the P4199 corn variety model.

Overview of the workshop

In the winter crop of 2014, Pioneer Company cooperated with the Plant Protection Station of Nghia Dan district to build a demonstration model of P4199 corn variety on a large-scale field, three-rice land in Nghia Thinh commune with an area of ​​90 hectares, with 124 households participating.

Implementing the model, participating households are supported in transferring scientific and technical knowledge. Through evaluation results, it is shown that the P4199 corn variety has a growing period of 105 - 110 days, high resistance to pests and diseases, a strong root system, low corn height to prevent corn plants from falling over; many kernels per ear. The P4199 corn variety has the potential for high yield, estimated at 5 tons/ha.

At the field workshop, delegates focused on discussing and identifying that the P4199 corn variety has many outstanding advantages compared to other corn varieties being grown locally.

This is a corn variety that grows well, is resistant to pests and diseases, has high economic productivity, and is suitable for local soil and climate.

The delegates attending the workshop also hoped that Pioneer Company and the district authorities would continue to have a policy of expanding the P4199 corn variety in many localities. At the same time, they proposed to include this new corn variety in the local structure and seed set in the following crops, in order to increase productivity and bring high economic value to farmers.
