Regiment 4 - Phong Quang Group - Economic-Defense Group 4 was established on April 26, 1973. During the war, units of the regiment fought 2,333 battles, destroyed 5,754 enemies, including 999 Americans, captured 255 enemies; destroyed and destroyed 1,749 vehicles of all kinds, including 997 tanks, 330 M113s; burned 51 helicopters; captured 25 tanks, 6 105 mm cannons, 8 12.8 mm cannons, 5 DKZ cannons... A typical example was the Cuu Viet battle of Battalion 3 on February 3, 1973, which destroyed 510 enemies, captured 190 enemies, burned 10 tanks, M113 armored vehicles, captured 22 tanks, and captured all weapons. Through the battle, many soldiers sacrificed their lives. Infantry Battalion 1 (K15) and Infantry Battalion 2 were awarded the title of Hero of the Armed Forces by the Central Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam.
Considering the achievements during the resistance war of Regiment 4, the Regiment Veterans Liaison Committee in coordination with the 4th Economic-Defense Group prepared a dossier to propose the Military Region Command to consider recommending superiors to confer the title of People's Armed Forces Hero to Regiment 4 and 2 individuals: martyr Tran Minh Le, Platoon Leader, Company 9, Battalion 3, who died on March 2, 1979; native of Quynh Minh commune, Quynh Luu, Nghe An and martyr Cao Nhu Tan, Sergeant Major, Platoon Leader, Company 4, Battalion 1, who died on June 28, 1974; native of Dien Tho commune, Dien Chau, Nghe An.
