Vietnam - Thailand Trade, Investment and Tourism Promotion Seminar in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) -Implementing the Government's policy of strengthening cooperation and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand, on the morning of August 28, under the direction of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand to organize a seminar on promoting trade, investment and tourism between Vietnam and Thailand.
Attending the workshop, on the Vietnamese side, there were Mr. Phan Thanh Tinh - Provincial Party Committee Member, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Nghe An province; Nguyen Bui Thai - Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association, Permanent Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province; on the Thai side, there were Mr. Noppadol Savasi - Permanent Deputy Minister of Commerce of Thailand; Ms. Leena Pongpruksa - Deputy Director of the Department of Strategy and Trade Development and representatives of relevant departments and agencies; small and medium-sized enterprise associations, Young Enterprise Association, Outstanding Enterprise Association and enterprises in the province and the business delegation from 17 provinces in the Northern region of Thailand.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Phan Thanh Tinh introduced the advantages of geography, natural resources, human resources, priority areas for attracting and preferential policies, investment support, socio-economic development results and investment attraction, trade of the province, etc.

Regarding the results of investment and trade cooperation with Thailand, up to now, there have been 4 investment projects in Nghe An province. During the visit and working session in Thailand in June 2012 of comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Chairman of the People's Committee, the two sides discussed the progress of the implementation of signed projects such as the Canned Fish Factory (investment capital of 20 million USD); Fish cake and fish meal factory (investment capital of 10 million USD), construction of a trade center (investment capital of 10 million USD).
Thai enterprises display and introduce products
Nghe An's export turnover to the Thai market reached 7.7 million USD in 2007, 3.8 million USD in 2008, 4.2 million USD in 2010, and 408 thousand USD in 2011. Nghe An's key export items to the Thai market include peanuts, pepper, wood products, various types of stone, construction materials, fruit juices, etc. Nghe An also imports machinery, equipment, production materials, auto and motorbike components, and glutinous rice from Thailand.
At the Workshop, Vietnamese and Thai businesses had the opportunity to meet, exchange and explore business opportunities. In particular, Thai businesses displayed and introduced 7 product groups with products processed from rice, vegetables and processed vegetables, handicrafts, textiles, etc.
